Proverbs 10:19 teaches us the importance of speaking.
Proverbs 10:19 (Bible Version: NIV)
Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues
The words we choose to say will mold a conversation, for better or for worse. It is important to choose words that are rooted in God’s words. He will provide us with pure intentions and wise thoughts.
Speaking is often rushed. We say things we regret when instead we should allow a space in-between our thoughts and our words. When conversations feel heavy, reach out to God. Ask Him to provide you with peace and wisdom. Ask Him to calm your mind so you can listen more than you speak. When we open our mouths, what comes out should be for the greater good.
But speaking begins with what we allow our minds to consume and our hearts to believe.
Luke 6:45 tells us that our words reflect what our hearts truly feel.
Luke 6:45 (Bible Version: NIV)
A good man brings good things out of the good stored in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
What is it that we are feeding into our hearts? Are we allowing ourselves to dwell on and carry negative beliefs? Are we allowing what is wrong in our lives to control our mindset and hold us back from the path God has written for us?
We should let go of what is no longer serving us; whether that is a person, a mindset, a job, a habit, or something completely different. We no longer have to struggle.
Lay your problems, wounds, and fears before God, and ask for His guidance. And listen. Listen for what He has to say. And allow Him to lead you. Allow Him to give you the words of wisdom. And take His hand and let Him guide you on the path He has written for you.
When we allow God to lead, He will provide us with direction, resources, and words of wisdom.
